MTBA Trail Development & Maintenance Workshops (Sat or Sun)

How can you build better trails and adopt your very own trail? This workshop will provide both theoretical and practical tuition in the maintenance of MTB trails and is based on the IMBA principles. Workshop presenter Nick Bowman has considerable experienced in the planning, design and construction of MTB trails.
The cost of the workshop is $95 per person. Rockwheelers members will be reimbursed by Rockwheelers Townsville. Upon completing the 1-day workshop please send your invoice and proof of membership to [email protected] It will be expected all those attending the workshop at the clubs expense would make every effort to adopt a trail and/or utilise their new found skills at Douglas Mountain Bike reserve.

Some of the topics covered in the workshop include:

Theory (3-4 hours duration)
Basic introduction to sustainable trail design
Elements of sustainable trails
Introduction to sustainable designing trails
Introduction to using clinometers to find sustainable grades
Passive trail drainage through design
Introduction to trail armouring
Aggressive trail drainage and retrofit drainage features

Practical (3-4 hours duration)
Tools and safety (WH&S and trail work)
Identify issues and plan remedies
Trail maintenance techniques

Participants in the workshop will receive a copy of the presentations, tea, coffee, lunch and a certification of attendance. No official qualification is received through participation in this workshop. Saturday 20 May workshop Sunday 21 May workshop
