Rockwheelers primary goals are to:
1. Undertake trail design, construction and advocacy;
2. Promote mountain biking in the Townsville region; &
3. Organise social rides, events and skills clinics.

Rockwheelers members are a friendly and motivated group of riders. We are a mixed bunch spanning all ages and are always interested to meet new riders on our social rides and compete against you in our club events. We are all keen to support new and intermediate riders so do not feel uncomfortable joining if you do not know anyone in the club. It won’t take you long to meet new riding buddies.

Club membership is only $30, $15 for Juniors (13-17 years) and and $5 for kids 12 and under. MTBA membership and insurance is now a requirement from 2011.

Where to ride:
Douglas Mountain Bike Reserve – Many trails available from beginner to intermediate and advanced. Can be ridden at any time dependant on conditions, eg rain. Club membership recommended as is MTBA insurance.

Lake Ross – Rockwheelers has exclusive access to the extensive trail network at Lake Ross. Access is only available for club approved races/rides. Unauthorised access will result in on the spot fines.

Mt Stuart DownHill track – The DownHill track can be accessed from the Mt Stuart road, approximately half way to the top. It is recommended that first timers walk the track prior to riding.

Our Events:
Paluma Push - Held in July each year, The Paluma Push is a race from the Paluma Village via the Paluma Dam and down to Hidden Valley. Two courses are available, the recreational course of 42 km and the Marathon course closer to 70km.  Originally commencing in 2002, The Paluma Push has provided over $30,000 to the Rural Fire Brigade and SES.

The HotRock 8 - Held in May at Lake Ross, the inaugural 8 hour Cross Country endurance event commenced in 2008. The aim of this event is to cover as many laps (approx. 14km) in the designated 8 hours. Open to Solo riders in addition to Teams of 2, 3 or 4 riders.

Dam Dark 12 hour – North Queensland’s only 12 hour night race is held at Lake Ross in November. Open to Solo riders in addition to Teams of 2, 3 or 4 riders.
DownHill and Cross Country Series - A number of club races are held throughout the year at the Mount Stuart track (DownHill) and at Lake Ross and the Douglas Mountain Bike Reserve for Cross Country riders.
