2010 Dam Dark

A total of 73 riders charged their lights for the 2010 BNG Sports Dam Dark 12hour. This was the second year that Rockwheelers have hosted the event and the growth in popularity is exciting with the number of entrants more than doubling since 2009.

This winner in the solo category was Greg Longson completing a total of 19 laps or just under 200km on some of Townsville's sweetest race tracks including the new yet to be named track on the 1^st tier of the quarry completed just hours before the beginning of the race. Racing conditions were perfect with a cool breeze awaiting riders at the top of every climb and nothing but a starry outlook when looking to the heavens....Some were so carried away with the conditions that they stripped down to their jocks (and less) during a 3am hot lap enjoying the invigorating coolness to the evening (or at least that's what they were claiming) and adding an extra element of enjoyment to the casual down to Earth nature of this event. Such randomness played havoc with the timing staff with the quote of the night being, "Did anyone get that number?".... "About 2 inches!" 

There were no category prizes for this race rather $1,000 worth of random draws donated by BNG Sports with Laurence McCook being the lucky winner of the $500 gift voucher to BNG Sports.
